Strange weather patterns are occurring in the Antarctic where gravity driven winds and tornados wipe out a team of researchers. Renowned climatologist Dr. David Kotzman (Jeff Fahey) is sent to investigate. What he finds is a hidden cave that houses a mysterious painting which propheises the coming of a second ice-age, and contrary to what science has told us it could happen overnight. A view of earth from space shows that ice is building in a huge ring to the north and south of the equator, with the largest concentrations in Miami and the opposite side of the world - as if earth is forming two new poles. David knows that if a state of absolute zero occurs then millions of people will be frozen, unless he can convince the president to evacuate Miami before it's too late.
